SOCIAL STUDIES • Q: What is social studies? • What are the five fields of learning? § A: Social studies includes information from five fields of learning to provides a well rounded picture of the world and its people. § Geography, History, Culture, Economics, and Government. § V: History is a record of the past. • V: History: • Main Idea: Historians search for primary sources such as newspapers, letters, and other documents to find out about past events. § Elaboration sentence: People search for pieces of information to help keep us informed about the past.
