What Is A Settlement? In geography, a settlement is the, locality or populated place

What Is A Settlement? In geography, a settlement is the, locality or populated place is a community in which people live. A settlement can range from a small number of dwellings grouped together to the largest of cities with surrounding urbanized areas. Settlements may include hamlets, villages, towns and cities. A settlement may have known historical properties such as the date or era in which it was first settled, or first settled by particular people. Each islands in The Bahamas have different areas where people live, however there is one main settlement that act as the urbanized centre of the island. The Capital City Nassau is located on the Island of New Providence. A second city is found on the Island of Grand Bahama and is called Freeport. Historically the Capital Settlement of Grand Bahama is West End , even though Freeport is the recognized City

HOW TO MEASURE DISTANCE ON MAPS USING A LINEAR SCALE? To measure the distance between two places on a straight line, a strip of paper may be used. 1. Place a piece of paper between two points on the map 2. Mark off the distance between the two points on the map. 3. Place the paper along the scale, then read of the distance on the scale.
