Transition Regents Q: When will scoring materials for the Global Transition Exam be available? Will everyone have the option to score early in June or will some have to wait until traditional Regents week? A: Scoring materials will be released at 11: 00 on June 5. If you are not a district that’s required to submit materials early for range setting, there is a choice - you can start scoring early or wait until the rating week (3 rd week of June) when the conversion chart will be released.

Framework Regents Q: Will the state be choosing a different 10% of the schools

Framework Regents Q: Will the state be choosing a different 10% of the schools to score early for the Framework test? Will Pearson be providing the scoring materials for this test? A: SED has no control of that. That’s the research group. It’s supposed to be a random sample. Pearson is the contractor for the research group for standards setting and score collecting.

Framework Regents Q: Teachers are struggling with the concept of reliability in Part 2.

Framework Regents Q: Teachers are struggling with the concept of reliability in Part 2. Will the state provide suggestions as to how to train people on reliability? A: Reliability information is in the Understanding the CRQ packet. That packet still can’t be posted, but it has information about what reliability is about and how to deal with it. Think of it as a research question. When looking for documents and reliable evidence, there is a purpose in mind. You’re trying to answer a question. In the exam, you’ll be provided with a purpose. Example: Boston Massacre engraving for Paul Revere. Three types of answers: reliable, somewhat reliable, and unreliable. Students need to look at the last part of the question and see what the purpose is. For one point, both criteria have to be met.

Framework Regents CRQs Reliability: The usefulness of a source for a given purpose • No source is necessarily either reliable or unreliable for every purpose. • The reliability of evidence in a historical source can depend on what you want to use it for. • A historical source may be reliable in some parts and unreliable in others. – Source: Chris Hinton. Framework Regents Q: When will the materials from the March state conference be publicly available electronically? A: Donna does not know. They can be shared in hard copy. You may request hard copies from Donna. The CRQ and DBQ stuff may have some changes. Donna’s office does not have permission to post.

Framework Regents Q: Will more materials/samples be available in general? A: There was an overview Framework Power Point on the OSA Social Studies page. It should also be on Engage NY. That document has a content specification grid and overview information. It’s a PPT that could be used with other people. We’ll continue to post items as available. If you have assessment-related questions, please direct them to OSA, not curriculum.
