The Need However, governments have ratified different maritime organizations’ differing sets of regulations. Some or all of them may be applicable depending on the flag or from port to port or the rank/normal/assigned duty of the seafarer. Further, advisory bodies such as O. C. I. M. F. can and do have differing interpretations for computing periods. It is humanly impossible to calculate or even visualize the possible violations that will ensue from a given pattern of work, especially when the pattern of work is not regular.
