SNOHOMISH COUNTY IMS GUIDELINE REVIEW
IMS GUIDELINE REVIEW • Level 1 and Level 2 Updates • Transferring Command Options • Floor Numbering Clarification • Addition of crew-driven CAN “A” reports • PAR’s Terminology • Groups/Divisions in Hazard Zones
IMS GUIDELINE REVIEW • Level 1 – First Apparatus, First Ladder (if on 1 st alarm), First BC respond directly to the scene • Ladder would typically state “L 31 approaching the scene” • Level 2 – No longer called Level 2 Staging or Level 2 Staging Area Manager – Just state “Level 2 from Command” – Level 2 answers as “Level 2”
IMS GUIDELINE REVIEW • Transferring Command – Transmit that your unit is on-scene “Battalion 81 onscene” (once this is stated, THIS BC will be assuming command. All other arriving BC’s will Level 1). – Command transfers to other arriving resources in-lieu of an arriving chief officer can occur when appropriate.
IMS GUIDELINE REVIEW • Floor numbering Clarification – One Floor below grade = “Basement” – Greater than one floor below grade = “Basement 01 or Basement 02 or Basement 03” • If a Division is established for the Basement, consider “Division Basement 02” – Consider Building numbering systems • P 1 = “Parking 1” • When operating on the roof, consider “Roof Div”
IMS GUIDELINE REVIEW • CAN “A” Reports addition – Crew-driven non-urgent needs report. These are routine needs requests that require something from the supervisor or IC.
IMS GUIDELINE REVIEW • PAR’s – Removal of Roll-Call terminology – IC uses one of two phrases: • General Fireground PAR announcement – “All units operating at MAIN ST COMMAND, stand-by for PAR” (units wait for COMMAND to contact you) • Crew Announcing PAR – Crews will report PAR on exit when directed by the IC. “All units operating at MAIN ST COMMAND withdraw from the building and report PAR on exit. ”
IMS GUIDELINE REVIEW • Groups/Divisions – Preferably, Divisions will work in hazard zones and Groups will work in non-hazard zones
