Aim of the project Is there a business case for a consortium of leading Dutch SME’s to offer an agro-platform in which geo and other data are used for advisory service to improve potato yield with reduction of use of fertilizers and pesticides • What is the value of this concept for BPG • Determining strategy options for further rolling-out: • Model for sales, advise, support, translation, etc. • Contact/interview other possible end-users • • HAAS Snow. Valley
Intended work plan • Compare potato yield and use of fertilizer and pesticides of 1. 000 BGP-ha’s using this integrated concept with that of 1. 000 BGP-ha’s in which this concept is not used. • WUR experts work on this with active ‘on the ground’ assistance of Dutch WUR/HAS students • • • Inventory of current BPG working procedures and decision strategies (how and why) Soil and crop observations of 1. 000 BPG-ha’s (soil analyzed by Eurofins) Inventory of BPG crops and yields Implementation of data in Akkerweb and demonstration to BPG/pilot farms Crop and variety monitoring with satellite information Evaluation of usability of the system in BPG, Snow. Valley and HAAS via interview
Realized output/results SMP 16022 • Total 76 CN soil samples analysed in NL by Eurofins • Field yield details of total 37 fields in 3 different BPG production areas, total 1. 200 hectare • Various visits of WUR-experts and students during growing season • Analysis reports • • BPG soil analysis: soil improvement and fertilization strategy Overview of all stages in BPG potato production chain with conclusions and recommendations • Show/discuss reports
Intended Outputs & Deliverables • What is the financial value for the end-user (a large potato company) • Also consider non-financial values (sustainability, environment, secure food supply, etc. ) • Important market information: • • Possible market size Strategy for roll-out (distribution, price, service/maintenance, advice/support) • Which parts in Akkerweb have to be modified so that this integrated solution works in China, specific Heilongjiang
Realized output/results SMP 16022 • Insight in interest of BPG and few others in GIS-platform Akkerweb • Insight in how Apps of Akkerweb could work on these farms (e. g. sat. app, late blight app. ) • Soil analyses in NL (76 samples) to better understand soil quality in relation to potato production and business opportunities for advice from the Netherlands • Analysis reports on crop management and information needs of BPG and other large farms in China • Fact that BPG and Gago want to continue and participate in PPP (with cash input!) demonstrates high value for Chinese market • Big demand for knowledge/expertise to use livestock manure for crop fertilizing and soil improvement by arable farmers • Could not get detailed overview of fertilizer use and crop protection. Gago is very open to cooperate, which enables possibility: • • • to obtain accurate and frequent satellite information of practically all agriculture areas in China to obtain accurate local weather information and weather prediction, necessary for Akkerweb -Apps to integrate ‘Wageningen knowledge’ and Akkerweb-Apps into pay-per-use business model for China
