ID/MT Smoke Management Program 4 Program – Manage smoke from prescribed forest and range burning to protect NAAQS – Members include state air regulators, and federal, state, tribal and private land owners/managers – Executive committee is decision-making body – States are divided into airsheds with designated airshed coordinators – Each member pays their share of the program – Operates during the spring, summer, and fall burn seasons

ID/MT Smoke Management Program 4 Reporting – Burners turn in list of planned burns

ID/MT Smoke Management Program 4 Reporting – Burners turn in list of planned burns for calendar year – Notification required day before planned burn – Annual report including accomplished burns – Annual full membership meeting

ID/MT Smoke Management Program 4 Forecasting Unit – Meteorologist, NWS, and program coordinator work

ID/MT Smoke Management Program 4 Forecasting Unit – Meteorologist, NWS, and program coordinator work together – Daily wind/temperature profiles collected at designated locations – Real-time air quality data provided by state air regulators – Restrictions based on forecasted meteorology and air quality – Restrictions issued each day by 4 PM – Restrictions issued by elevation or airshed (www. smokemu. org)
