Smoke Alarms • You should have a smoke alarm on each floor in your home. • They should be fitted to the centre of the ceiling. • They need to be at least 30 cm away from a light. • The battery should be tested once a week. • They battery should be changed once a year. • If the alarm beeps and there is no fire the battery needs replacing. • Twice a year open the casing and gently remove any dust. • Never remove the battery unless you are replacing it!
