What is Po. E? Po. E is “Power over Ethernet”. Po. E allows devices that require power (PD) and supply power (PSE) to be supported over existing switching infrastructure using Cat 5, 5 e or 6 cabling. Surveillance Server Modem Internet Pro. SAFE GS 108 P Ready. NAS 104 Series Firewall (FVS 318 G) Tablet 11 n Wireless Access Point (WNAP 320) 22 2 Printer Vo. IP Phone Desktop Po. E

Key Po. E Applications: Vo. IP Voice over IP phones: (VOIP) allow the delivery of phone signals over a data network rather than the traditional telephone lines. Po. E addresses one of the primary concerns of Vo. IP: reliability and flexibility. Po. E enabled IP phones receive uninterrupted power through the network, without the need for an AC outlet for each phone. Note: Business conferencing / Colour Display Vo. Key Po. E Applications: Surveillance IP Security Cameras and Devices: Security cameras are traditionally located near electrical outlets limiting their effectiveness. Utilising the switching network to mount cameras and access control devices on ceilings, hallways, outdoor or reception areas is significantly less expensive. Note: PTZ cameras require 802. 3 at (Po. SAFE Smart Switch GS 516 TP: 6 reasons why passthrough make sense *As of Feb 2014, alternative switch vendor solutions are only available in a Managed Configuration

Pro. Safe GS 516 TP Why a Passthrough switch makes sense 1. To date customers have been stuck with choosing between expensive fully managed pass-through switches or low port count Po. E injectors that need to be added to each segment (potentially 3 devices: switch to injector to device) • GS 516 TP bridges the gap. 2. Po. E injectors typically have a low port count (2 ports). GS 516 TP means you can deliver a Po. E injector capability AND additional switch ports included in one device AND all the functionality of a smart switch; Auto Vo. IP, ACL’s / Qo. S etc. • With 22 W pass through, you could power 4 IP phones vs 2 devices from an injector 3. Po. E injectors warranty? • We offer LIFETIME on our Pro. SAFE branded switches. 4. Considering Ethernet’s defined acceptable range is 100 metres, you could use 1 x Po. E switch to power 1 x GS 516 TP that in turn can then extend another 100 meters to another Powered Device • Double the distance for power in hard to wire places like old / listed / protected buildings. 5. Per-port priority settings, timers, and power limits can be set to manage power supplied to powered devices

When stacking makes sense “Network expansion costs are a major impediment to the growth of small-to-medium size businesses. Sometimes companies are forced to throw away equipment to accommodate growth” said Tim Zimmerman, Research Director at Gartner. “Growing businesses welcome a solution that easily and quickly expands network capacity without any interruption in business operations. ”

What is Stacking? + Nominally a feature on Fully Managed Switches + A stacked system supports MANY units per stack + Whole stack acts like a single unit + 1 configuration / Multiple power supplies + Stack continues to operate even if one Ring Topology Chain Topology

Stacking benefits Switches can be ‘stacked’ with high-speed shared bandwidth Support distance / remote stacking needs across multi-sites Dedicated ports for stacking connectivity; don’t waste valuable user ports Hot swappable solution Intelligent and Easy Management: Highly Redundant: Highly Scalable: Stack-master maintains configuration for all members In Ring configuration, stack stays alive in case of failure of any switch Stack-master automatically synchronizes software for all members Single IP Address management for entire stack Failover mechanism in case master fa
