Classroom Devices ❏ The Smart Schools Bond Act requires that school districts must loan, upon request, any classroom devices purchased by the District with SSBA funding, to students attending non-public schools located within the school district. ❏ The value of loaned equipment must be proportionate to enrollment of students at each non-public school and should not exceed $250 per student. 7
Non-Public School Allocation of Classroom Device Funds 8
Non-Public Requests ❏ Non-public requests for purchases of “loaned” equipment must be made in writing and received by the district no later than June 15 th for the following school year. ❏ Since the equipment must be inventoried and maintained by North Colonie, the district reserves the right to limit the requested items to vendors/equipment that the district feels it can adequately maintain. 9
Professional Development ●As we did last summer, we will offer technology seminars throughout the summer, taught by our North Colonie i. TRTs. ●In addition, a three-person team, comprised of the i. TRTs, will serve as instructional mentors for all those teachers who are receiving Chromebooks in the classroom. ●We will continue with the development of video tutorials, both for adults and students. 10
Software Review ● As we began last year, we will survey the teachers of the district as to use of current software as well as interest in other software products. ● A committee of teachers and administrators reviews the data from the surveys to create a purchasing plan for the upcoming school year. ● As part of our review process, we will research and consider open source options 11
