SMART Goal #1 • In. TASC Category: The Learner and Learning: Standard #3– Learning Environments • TEAM Rubric Domain: Environment • Indicator: Environment • Descriptor: “The classroom is arranged to promote individual and group learning”
SMART Goal #1 - Statement • I will meet with three different teachers by May 1 st to observe how they have set up their classrooms to promote individual and group learning, and I will do a short interview as well as take a few pictures if permitted in hopes of becoming more aware to the many different ways to arrange a learning environment.
SMART Goal #1 - Progress • I have met with my practicum teacher, Dr. Finchum, and have observed the set-up of his classroom. We also talked in length about what he does and why. • I observed the classrooms of Dr. Finchum, Mr. Whaley, and Mr. Marshall. I was not able to take any pictures, but I gained a better understanding of classroom management and environment through interviewing them.
SMART Goal #2 • In. TASC Category: Content Knowledge: Standard #4 – Content Knowledge • TEAM Rubric Domain, Indicator, and Descriptor: Instruction, Standards and Objectives, “Most learning objectives and state content standards are explicitly communicated” • Statement of Goal: I will interview three separate teachers by the end of August to seek out how they each achieve instruction of most, if not all, of the provided standards for each subject, and I will also ask about their planning procedures to accomplish each standard. • Strategies to Reach Goal: I will interview the teachers in my family and one teacher from either Maury Middle or Jefferson County High.
SMART Goal #3 • In. TASC Category: Instructional Practice: Standard #6 – Assessment • TEAM Rubric Domain, Indicator, and Descriptor: Planning, Assessment, “Assessment plans measure student performance in more than three ways” • Statement of Goal: I will interview three teachers by the end of August to determine how each one successfully assesses his or her students, and I will record at least three different forms of assessment for each teacher being interviewed. • Strategies to Reach Goal: I will contact three members of my family who are teachers and interview each of them over the summer break.
Reflection • It is a good practice to conduct because it promotes oneself to keep the goal and figure out ways to accomplish it.
