Reducing Fractions Reduce 1) Find the factors of 25 and 40 2) Pick the largest number (factor) that is in both lists. This is called the (GCF) or GREATEST COMMON FACTOR 25 1 x 25 5 x 5 GCF = 5 40 1 x 40 2 x 20 4 x 10 5 x 8 3) Divide the top and bottom of the fraction by the GCF 25 40 5= 5 5 8 This fraction is now reduced to lowest terms.
