SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory B 4 C • Stoppers must be able to withstand the allowed beam power (x-rays) indefinitely. B 4 C is placed on stoppers face to withstand the FEL beam • Damage threshold of B 4 C calculated to have a safety factor of ~10. • Have a test apparatus to confirm viability, with a B 4 C sample placed in the photon beam, for testing at increasing beam power density. • Detailed testing plan needed prior to installing Undulator magnets.
