PRINCETHORPE COLLEGE SIXTH FORM How A-levels have changed • A-levels are now fully linear • AS and A-levels have been separated • A-levels have increased in content and AS-levels have become a down-graded stand-alone qualification • Princethorpe College students will study three A-levels • Universities and employers do not favour additional AS levels but they do look for evidence of other skills and characteristics
PRINCETHORPE COLLEGE SIXTH FORM Choosing your subjects • Choose your three subjects carefully • Base your choices on: • Your enjoyment of and interest in particular areas (enjoyment = motivation = success) • Your GCSE performance in any relevant courses (note GCSE requirements for some A-levels) • Your future education and career plans (a few degrees require specific A-levels) • Research into the content of the courses this evening • For newcomers to Princethorpe: a Sixth Form Taster Day is available on Tuesday 13 December
PRINCETHORPE COLLEGE SIXTH FORM Our admissions requirements • Minimum academic requirement is six GCSEs grades A* – C, including at least three B grades or equivalent. • Candidates will normally have at least grade B in subjects to be studied to Alevel, but it is necessary to have at least a grade A in: • Mathematics • Latin • Modern Foreign Languages • Sciences • Check each subject for specific requirements
