Alternative Energy Share of Thailand Final Energy Consumption 2011 Final Alternative Energy Consumption Final Energy Consumption Fossil fuels Solar/wind/biomass/garbage/ biogas power generation* Small hydropower Alternative Energy & Traditional Renewables Solar/biomass/garbage/ biogas heating Biofuels Traditional Renewables
Thailand final alternative energy consumption has increased continuously, due to the policy of alternative energy development is targeted to up more alternative energy consumption in all sectors, especially alternative energy which can be produced in the country comprising solar energy, wind energy, small hydro power, biomass, garbage, biogas and biofuels (ethanol and biodiesel). To consume more alternative energy, to affect the decrease of fossil energy consumption and energy imports. Thailand consumes domestic alternative energy in the form of electricity, heat and biofuels, as well as domestic natural gas for vehicles (NGV). Final Alternative Energy Consumption 2009 – 2011
In 2011, Thailand alternative energy consumption was 6, 501 ktoe, and increase of 16. 3% from the previous year and shared 9. 2% of the total final energy consumption (including NGV, shared 12. 1% of the total final energy consumption). This affected decreasing of energy imports, as amount of 154, 590 million Baht, and also decreasing of CO 2 emission as amount of 19. 94 million tons.
