Welcome Supervisors • We want to express our appreciation for you and your organization’s willingness and cooperation in allowing our graduate counseling interns to gain valuable experience outside of the academic environment.

St. Edward’s University MAC Program • The MAC program prepares students to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or both. Clinical Mental Health Counseling Track (CMHC) Marriage, Couples and Family Counseling Track (MCFC)

Accreditation • The MAC Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program at St. Edward's is accredited through the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP) • The MCFC is currently working towards CACREP accreditation

Our Practicum/Internship Students • Prior to approval of a field-based Practicum/Internship, the student must

Our Practicum/Internship Students • Prior to approval of a field-based Practicum/Internship, the student must have completed the majority of course work for the degree. This requirement is based on the expectation that in the Practicum/Internship the student will be applying most of the knowledge and skills learned in the didactic portion of the counseling program. To register for Practicum/Internship students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3. 00. • Each Practicum/Internship student must secure professional liability insurance prior to beginning the Practicum/Internship semester. • MAC students adhere to the Code of Ethics as set by ACA, AAMFT, TX LPC and TX LMFT Boards.

Expectation of the Practicum Site (CMHC) • Provide the Practicum student with 100 hours

Expectation of the Practicum Site (CMHC) • Provide the Practicum student with 100 hours over one semester – 40 direct client contact hours over the semester • Individual, group, couple, family – 60 administrative hours over the semester • Orientation, training, 1 consecutive hour supervision per week, documentation, scheduling, research, reading (many hours outside of the site counts towards this) • Provide student with materials and space necessary to serve clients

Expectation of the Practicum Site (MCFC) • Provide the Practicum student with 100 hours

Expectation of the Practicum Site (MCFC) • Provide the Practicum student with 100 hours over one semester – 50 direct client contact hours over the semester • Individual, group, couple, family – 50 administrative hours over the semester • Orientation, training, 1 consecutive hour supervision per week, documentation, scheduling, research, reading (many hours outside of the site counts towards this) • Provide student with materials and space necessary to serve clients

Expectation of the Internship Site • Provide the Internship student (CMHC) with 600 hours

Expectation of the Internship Site • Provide the Internship student (CMHC) with 600 hours over two semesters – 240 direct client contact hours • Must include facilitation/co-facilitation of group (1 hour) – 360 administrative hours • Provide MCFC students a total of 100 direct client contact hours over two semesters (75 must be with couples/families) • Provide student with materials and space necessary to serve clients

Expectation of the Practicum/Internship Site and Site Supervisor • Provide orientation to the agency • Have policies and procedures in place to support supervision of student interns • Provide adequate materials as needed • Provide minimum of one consecutive hour of individual supervision per week • Sign internship activity logs (in Tevera) • Complete midterm and final evaluations (in Tevera) • Communicate with St. Edwards MAC faculty as needed Students should not see clients when there is no licensed clinician on site

Expectation of the MAC Program • The MAC program designates the Practicum/Internship Instructor to serve as contact, who – Contacts the site supervisor by visit/phone at least once per semester – Meets with students in 3 -hour class every other week (group supervision) • The MAC program Internship Coordinator is also available for any concerns/issues

• Streamlining the placement process through online administration of formal site and student contracts • Granting you greater visibility and control in promoting your organization as a clinical training site • Simplifying the supervision (and signing off) of your interns’ hours and activities • Automating the process for submitting student evaluations
