What is a singular noun? A SINGULAR NOUN means that there is one person, place, or thing. pencil car tree dog
What is a plural noun? A PLURAL NOUN means that there is MORE THAN ONE person, place, or thing. There are rules to help us spell plural nouns. 1. Nouns that end in –s 2. Nouns that end in –y 3. Nouns that end in –ch, -sh, -x, -z
From singular to plural… Nouns with no special endings are made plural by adding an –s. pencils dogs cars trees
Nouns that end in -s When a singular noun ends in the letter –s, we add –es to make it plural. class = classes glass = glasses
Nouns that end in –sh, -ch, -zz, -x All nouns that end in these letter are made plural by adding –es. dish = dishes church = churches buzz = buzzes fox = foxes
