Project purpose Through this project you will explore the characteristics of single camera production and multi camera production and develop the creative organizational and technical skills required to devise, plan and implement your own productions.
Single & Multi camera production project Weeks: 1. Week 5 th November 2018 Introduction to Single and Multi camera production – Assignment SC production. Introduction to multicamera 'Christmas Special' project 2. Week 12 th November 2018 Narrative structure in single camera drama productions Assignment: Analysis of narrative structures in TV dramas Christmas special devising roles and brainstorming ideas for the show.
3. Week 19 th November 2018 Single camera techniques – Practical workshop Christmas Special' Developing ideas for the show Creating the schedule; who is responsible for what. 4. Week 26 th November 2018 Developing ideas for the short single camera production project. Single camera techniques – practical workshop. Starting to build content for the show ( short video inserts, etc. )
Week 3 rd December 2018 Filming and editing short single camera drama piece. 'Christmas Special' programme rehearsal. Final preparation for the show ( guests, props etc) Week 10 th December 2018 Presentation of single camera drama work and final evaluation. 'Christmas Special' programme rehearsal in the TV studio.

Week 1: Explain the features of single camera production Produce detailed and illustrative research into the following aspects of film and television production: Single Camera Production Multi Camera production Series Format Serial format Single Drama Film and Television genres and sub genres
In order to show understanding of features of single camera production you will research the following areas highlighted below. You must produce a detailed definition and a relevant contemporary example (within the last 5 years) of a film or television text where necessary. Each point must contain a minimum of one example. All research must be illustrated with still images, production stills or promotional images relating to the issues and text being discussed. You must use detailed technical terminology and vocabulary at all times. Remember to reference your sources at all times.

What are the benefits of single camera production and what are the potential problems or issues with this style of shooting? Give examples of productions created with single camera techniques. Multi camera techniques What is multi- camera production and why is it used? What are the benefits of multi – camera production and what are the potential problems or issues with this style of shooting? Give examples of productions created with multi – camera techniques.
Series, Serial & Single drama Give a clear definition of those three formats with contemporary examples of each. Remember to highlight differences in each format in terms of its use on narrative devices and structures. Genre and sub genre Give clear definition of the following genres with at least one example for each: Period drama Drama documentary Crime Soap opera Comedy Add some more examples
Explain what are genres, why are they important for audiences and produces of media text? What are the most popular genres in film and TV today? How are genres able to stay relevant and interesting to modern audiences? Pick one genre and use it to give a definition of sub – genre. Use a wide range of examples to illustrate your discussions. Tips: Remember to include all your references at the end of your work with clear indications in the research as to where your information has come from.
