Parabola: A Parabola is the collection of all points P in the plane

Parabola: A Parabola is the collection of all points P in the plane that are the same distance from a fixed point F as they are from a fixed line D. Point F is the Focus of the Parabola and line D is its directrix. |a| - is the distance from the focus to the vertex. (x-h)2= ± 4 a(y-k) – Used for a parabola facing up or down. Facing up is a positive parabola and down is a negative parabola. Directrix is a y line. (y-k)2= ± 4 a(x-h) – Used for a parabola facing left or right. Facing right is a positive parabola and left is a negative parabola. Directrix is a x line. (h, k) represents the center.

Dish is 8 ft across at its opening and 3 ft deep at its center. At what position should the receiver be placed? ?
