SIN AND JUDGMENT Genesis 6

Genesis 6: 1 -7 “When mankind began to multiply on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were beautiful, and they took any they chose as wives for themselves.

“Many have believed the sons of God were those from the line of Seth, and the daughters of men were from the line of Cain, and this describes an intermarriage between the godly and the ungodly, something God specifically prohibits. ” Deuteronomy 7: 1 -4, 2 Corinthians 6: 14 David Guzik

Job 1: 6 “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. ” Job 2: 1 “Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. ”

Job 38: 7 “When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy? ”

Jude 1: 6 -7 “And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these,

having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. ”

Genesis 6: 3 “And the LORD said, ‘My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years. ’”

Genesis 6: 4 “The Nephilim were on the earth both in those days and afterward, when the sons of God came to the daughters of mankind, who bore children to them. They were the powerful men of old, the famous men. ”

“Giants (Nephilim) on the earth in those days: This refers to the unnatural offspring of the union between the sons of God and the daughters of men, though there were people of unusual size on the earth both before and after the flood (and also afterward).

These ones before the flood were unique because of the demonic element of their parentage. They were the mighty men of old, men of renown. ” David Guzik

Genesis 6: 5 -7 “When the LORD saw that man’s wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every scheme his mind thought of was nothing but evil all the time, the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

Then the LORD said, ‘I will wipe off from the face of the earth mankind, whom I created, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky— for I regret that I made them. ’”

Genesis 6: 6 “So the LORD was sorry He had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke His heart. ”

The world before the coming of Jesus will be like the conditions of the world before the flood: · Exploding population (Genesis 6: 1) · Sexual perversion (Genesis 6: 2) · Demonic activity (Genesis 6: 2) · Constant evil in the heart of man (Genesis 6: 5) · Widespread corruption and violence (Genesis 6: 11)

1 Timothy 2: 3 -4 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. ”
