Efficiency Calculations will Depend on Pileup P(good) = 1 / (1+S) where S = 2 x y P(bad) = (1 – Efficiency) = S / ( 1 + S ) and when S is small P(bad) 2 x y x is the convolution of the detector resolution and the projected track error in the ‘x’ direction, y is the convolution of the detector resolution and the projected track error in the ‘y’ direction, and is the density of hits. The largest error dominates the sum JT x = ( 2 xp + 2 xd ) y = ( 2 yp + 2 yd ) Asymmetric pointing resolutions are a challenge 2
Pileup – critical to selling the proposal • A modest proposal – Proposal geometry and configuration (TPC+SSD+IST 2+PXL 1) – with pileup – without – Reduced configuration with standard geometries (TPC+SSD+PXL 2+PXL 1) – with pileup – without Does Pileup Matter? Does the configuration matter? JT 3
A Prediction – pileup doesn’t matter for a 200 sec detector JT • Proposal configuration with pileup and UPC electrons • Proposal configuration without pileup and without UPC electrons 4
