Signature Programs at SEU: History • Two Current Signature Programs: – The Global Initiative – The Center for Culture & Religion • Strategic Plan 2015+ calls for the creation of 1 -2 additional signature programs. • 2013 -2014 – APG on Signature Programs • Spring 2015 – Task Force on implementing APG suggestions
Signature Programs: Definition A Signature Program supports multidisciplinary and collaborative learning and research, advances the educational mission and distinctiveness of St. Edward’s, promotes social justice, incorporates experiential learning, and leverages the unique resources of Austin and the central Texas region.
Application Process Applicants need to show they connect to the five parts of SP definition Supports Multidisciplinary & Collaborative learning & Research Promotes Social Justice Incorporates Experiential Learning Leverages unique resources of Austin & Central TX Advances the educational mission & distinctiveness of SEU
Application Process & Timeline • Applicants can include faculty, administrators, staff, students, and/or community partners. • Due September 20, 2015: – Intent Letter – Abstract – Executive Summary • Top 2 -3 ideas will get support to continue working on full proposal (notification by end Oct). • Final Proposals Due Friday March 11, 2016 • Accepted Proposals Announced by end of April

How will we describe plans for implementation? • Due September 20 th • three elements • letter of intent (1 pg) • abstract (200 words) • summary (500 -1500 words
Full Proposal Why is this work a 'signature'? Who cares about it? What is the plan? Does it work? How will you keep it going? • relate to SP definition • relate to SEU mission • clearly define importance in field(s) • broader impacts • team • timeline • goals and activities • formative and summative evaluation • what counts as evidence of success? • dissemination plan • sustainability plan • support needed
