Rainbow Sight Words Introducing the Learning Center: • Students will be reminded what order the colors go in to make a rainbow. Show a picture of a rainbow and talk about the colors. • Explain that our rainbows will have seven colors, so they can choose to do a light blue and dark blue, or add pink after purple. • Model the activity: o “First I’m going to get out a rainbow sheet and write my name on it. o “Then I’m going to find the list of Disney words that I am working on. For today, I am going to pretend to be working on Donald words. o “I’m going to pick a card with a word on it and that’s going to be the first word I write in the outer most layer of my rainbow, which will be the color red. • Model the rest of the activity by picking more cards. • Explain that there will only be one of each set of Disney level, so they will have to share if there are other friends on the same level at the center.
Differentiation: Above. Challenge the students with a higher level set of sight words to write and also have them try to write more of the words in the small space. Below. Help lower students by giving them a lower set of sight words. Or have them only choose one or two words to write the whole time. Works Cited: krogerskindergarten. blogspot. com
