I. GENERAL OVERVIEW § SLIHS is: Sierra Leone’s Integrated Household Survey conducted under the Statistics Act, 2002; § It is a multi-sectoral survey covering socio-economic data that supports government planning processes § SLIHS is the only survey that collects detailed information on household incomes and expenditures, which are the ingredients for the monetary poverty assessment, education, health, housing , employment, agriculture, household assets and even perception of well being. GENERAL OVERVIEW…. …. § SLIHS is the main poverty assessment tool that is used to measure standards of living of households § Data generated from SLIHS is useful for the preparation of National Medium Term Development Plans (MTNDP). II. SLIHS OBJECTIVES The objectives of the survey were as follows: a) To provide fresh poverty profile and determine new official poverty lines using the new World Bank poverty line of US$ 1. 90 per day; b) To provide poverty and other indicators to serve as tools for the monitoring and evaluation of the Medium-term national development plan; c) To measure households consumption and expenditure at a greater level of disaggregation; d) To provide data for the compilation of National Accounts and computation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI); e) To measure the impact of Ebola on the socio-economic characteristics of the population. IMPLEMENTATION ARRANGEMENT & METHODOLOGY… c) Sample size: 684 clusters/EAs § The sample was drawn from the 2015 PHC frame § two-stage stratification strategy was used to select the sample § Probability Proportional to Size (PPS) was used to select the 684 EAs, which were used as clusters for the survey d) Survey Instrument (SI) § SI was made up of 5 books of questionnaires: § Book 1 -Individual Characteristics, § Book 2 -Household Characteristics § Book 3: Agriculture Becoming a WINNER National Statistics Office in Africa

V. HIGHLIGHTED RESULTS § Today we will present a snapshot of the 2018 SLIHS report. § More comprehensive and in-depth analysis is contained in the final report. § The data is being made publicly available to allow policy-makers, academics and civil society to conduct their own analysis.
