Exchange Scholarships (examples) • HSBC Overseas Scholarship (January) – All undergraduate students who are HK permanent residents with the right to abode in Hong Kong (for students going on exchange in Year 3) • Fung Scholarship (April/ May) – All undergraduate students who are HK permanent resident with the right to abode in Hong Kong (for students going on exchange in Year 3) • Kwok Hospitality Award (December/January) (study at Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration) – UG students who are Chinese and permanent resident of HK (for students going on exchange in Year 3) • Information on other scholarships can be found in Centre STARS’ website https: //www. polyu. edu. hk/stars/scholarships -administered-by-centre-stars/

Financial Assistance • You can receive a range of financial assistance via Poly. U International Student Exchange Sponsorship and Hardship Fund programme to support your living costs during exchange studies overseas • Such funding will be offered to all eligible applicants and the amount varies across programmes and institutions • SHTM also provides additional Hardship Fund for students with financial needs

Student’s Responsibilities Before Exchange § Take care of application for exchange required by the host university § Hand in your application form, the relevant supporting documents required by the host institution, SHTM’s Learning Agreement, Exchange Study Plan, and Poly. U’s Form AS 41 a to Miss Keiko Tam (Office: TH 711) before the specified deadline § Apply for the necessary visa, book the air tickets, arrange for insurance, and pack § Attend the briefing session organized by IAO During Exchange § Be a good ambassador for both SHTM and Poly. U § Study hard and play hard

Student’s Responsibilities After Exchange It is mandatory to share your exchange experience at the following occasions: § SHTM out-bound exchange information sharing session § Welcome back and welcome reception for exchange students § Poly. U Education Information day § SHTM orientation for new in-bound exchange students § Serve as a “buddy” for new in-bound/outbound exchange students § Organise and host activities for in-bound/outbound exchange students § SHTM Student Exchange FB page

Review the BSc program document and think about your Major (Hotel Management or Tourism & Event Management)

Check the credit requirements for graduation Plan to complete all the GUR, CAR, and Service learning courses in Year 1 and 2 Decide your mode of WIE (Block or Part-time)

Decide whether you will take Honors Thesis or Capstone subjects. Consider which Career Track Option you would like to opt for.
