SHREK SEQUEL – LOGISTICS SHREK V (5) BY AMIN AHMAD
INTRODUCTION • Shrek 5 is a sequel to the original 4 movies in the Shrek series. • It will go into production in summer 2021 and will feature returning cast members from the original series expected to finish production during mid 2022. • For pre-production, logistics documents need to be filled out.
RISK ASSESSMENT • At Central Ldn Mocap Studio, the risks are low to medium and are easily controlled with careful placement of props and clear direction. • It will be safe to film here as the owners of the property will have given permission and the area will be cleared. • Throughout the filming of the new film, there is the hazard of the lighting arrangements impairing vision and motion capture suits restricting cast and crew movement in set. • Luckily, most of these risks are easily controlled and only require common sense.
TALENT RELEASE • The talent release form is for Mike Myers, who will be reprising his role as Shrek as and adult. • As he is 57 so there is no need for a guardian signature. • The compensation is high, as he is an expensive, well-known actor. • The choice to include Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy will draw in Shrek fans and get them excited to see which other cast members will be returning. This will also help in allowing the new film to capture the essence of the original films. • Other well-known talents in the film will include Cameron Diaz, Cody Cameron & Conrad Vernon.
LOCATION SCOUT • For the introduction scene to reintroduce the characters after a long break there shall be a scene insighting the life of Sherk and donkey in contrast as married men with children and wife's • This will allow the new film to feel consistent with the original series and may create a feeling of nostalgia. • This location will be interior green screen and will capture the look of the shreks new home with the use of motion capture to simulate the characters movements more accurately and the finished product shall show their house away from the swamp. • In terms of sound, the area will be quiet, allowing for clear sound due to the soundproofing of the set. • There are many power capabilities outside, in the mocap studio so all equipment can funtion. • Additionally, it is almost two hours away from the Studio set in Deptford, so transport for the cast and crew will need to be organised. • Catering and accommodation will also need to be provided, as filming will take four hours and will be over a number of days.
PRODUCTION SCHEDULE • The opening shot of Shreks new house will not require any actors but will require the animation team to model a close to perfect representation of the script writers and directors desires. • As Central Ldn Mocap Studio is in Deptford and the Dream. Works Studio is in Ldn, the journey between the two is not particularly long. • Therefore, the 2 scene can be filmed in one day. • However, it will be a 8 hr day, so catering will need to be provided and the cast and crew will need to take regular breaks.
BUDGET REPORT • As this film is a Dream. Works production and part of a huge franchise, it will likely have a high budget. • Budget considerations include the cost of well-known actors, props and motion capture suits, hiring of locations, microphone equipment, camera equipment, cost of transport, accommodation and catering. • As this is a Animation comedy film with appeal to children, a large amount of money will also need to be spent on CGI, motion capture, animation and special effects. • Taking all of this into consideration and looking at the cost of previous Shrek films, the budget for this film will likely be 130 -175 million USD in order to go all out due to this being most likely the last move to the film series.
