Ordinary World • Shrek lives in a peaceful home at a swamp and this is where he does his • This is where he feels comfortable and does his daily routines.

Call to Adventure • Creatures from fairy tales settle down in Shrek’s swamp because they were exiled by Lord Farquaad agrees to call back the creatures if Shrek rescues and brings to him Princess Fiona.

Supernatural Aid • Donkey is Shrek’s supernatural aid. Donkey stays side by side with Shrek throughout his adventure. • Shrek also uses knights armor when he is at the castle.

Crossing the Threshold • Shrek crosses the bridge to get to Princess Fiona on the other side.

In the Belly of the Whale • The dark, old, castle is where Shrek will go to capture the Princess.

Road of Trials • There is a dragon where Shrek will have to defeat in order for him to move forward.

The Meeting with the Goddess • Princess Fiona is the Goddess. • She is beautiful during the day but ogre like at night. • Shrek will later find the real truth about Princess Fiona.

The Woman as the Temptress • Shrek meets with Lord Farquaad and he tells Shrek to bring Princess Fiona to him or he will not be left alone.

Atonement with the Father • Shrek sometimes feels ashamed for being big, fat, and ugly. He is lonely because of this. • He begins to fall in love with Princess Fiona but he does not tell her how he feels because he is ashamed.

Apotheosis • After Shrek’s misunderstanding about Princess Fiona saying “who could ever love a beast so hideous and ugly, ” Shrek realizes why he was on his journey and calls for Lord Farquaad to take the princess.

The Ultimate Boon • Shrek finnally comes out and tells Princess Fiona how he feels about her. • Princess Fiona loves Shrek back.

Master of Two Worlds • Shrek learns that he is not alone and he sees the inner beauty in Princess Fiona even if she is in her Ogre form. • He is also is more friendly to the other fairy tale creatures and he lets them have fun by his swamp.

Freedom to Live • Shrek returns to the swamp and has a proper wedding with Princess Fiona. • Both of them get married and live happily ever after
