SHOULDER ANATOMY The shoulder is a joint with great mobility, which makes it very delicate and prone to injury The shoulder is a complex joint, where several joints work in a coordinated way to allow a wide range of wide and multi-direction movements In the following slides we will expose the joints and the muscles that make it up

BONES THAT MAKE UP THE SHOULDER Clavicle: It joins the sternum with the shoulder.

BONES THAT MAKE UP THE SHOULDER Clavicle: It joins the sternum with the shoulder. The clavicle articulates with the acromion, which is a bony relief of the scapula. It is at the top of the image. Scapula: The scapula we all know, with a triangular shape. It has a bony relief called acromion, which articulates with the clavicle. It is to the left of the image. It is placed in the back. Humerus: The bone that goes from the shoulder to the elbow. Right on the picture. To unite these bones, there are the ligaments, which you can see in the image.

MAJOR MUSCLES THAT MOVE THE SHOULDER Redondo mayor (teres major). Rotator cuff: This term is called the supraspinatus, infespinatus, teres minor and subscapular muscles (not shown in the picture, it is hidden under the scapula). These four muscles insert more or less in the region of the head of the humerus. They mainly perform the rotation movements and are responsible for the important function of providing stability to the joint. Due to their position and anatomical and functional characteristics, they have a certain predisposition to injure themselves in forced postures, repeated movements. Deltoides (deltoideus): Very famous. It is the muscle that forms the "ball of the shoulder"
