SHOULD MOBILE PHONES BE BANNED IN SCHOOLS? ? • mobile phones should be banned from classrooms, that's the policy more than 120 headteachers are campaigning to enforce. Teachers from more than 120 schools signed an open letter supporting the "Phone-Free Schools" campaign. Students in year 11 and below would not be allowed their phones on-site if the ban is approved
ARGUMENTS FOR CHILDREN HAVING PHONES • Less paper would be used: because of phones less trees would be cut down • Easy access to the web: if needed to see a piece of art or the meaning of a word • Constant communication between parents and children: in case of emergency children might have to go home • Great tracking ability: if lost on a trip the group your with can find you • Powerful learning tool: great when come to education
• It can improve student success • It provides equal opportunity for more students
REASONS WHY CHILDREN SHOULD NOT HAVE PHONES Increased cheating in school: children may be looking at their phones while doing a test More e- waste Expensive prices: phones are very expensive and will cause the school a lot of money Distraction: children may not be doing work but watching videos Addiction: children can get too addicted to mobile phones and get longed term brain damaged. To much convenience Lack of physical activity: children could top exercising but be busy looking at phones
• Inappropriate materials: while schools can limit the availability of websites that can be viewed on their network, students may find links that slipped through the system. There will also be times that students will not be accessing the internet through a monitored network • Cyberbullying: This is an increasing issue that’s grown exponentially in recent years. Permitting use of digital devices in the classroom could potentially lead to more of it.
CONCLUSION • In the end phone should not be used in classrooms or while learning but may keep them near the principals/vice principals office in case of a emergency.
