Sheffields Hype Music is widely unappreciated by many
Sheffields’ Hype Music is widely unappreciated by many people, simply because they don’t know where to look. Whether it be students, tourists or people who have lived in Sheffield their entire lives. My production will attempt to highlight anything and everything music related in Sheffield.
Setting Almost all of my scenes will be based in or around Sheffield town centre, whether it be outdoors or indoors.
Aesthetics One of the main things in an expository style documentary are the interviews. But how can I get the most engaging shots possible?
Shot styles Establishing shots B roll Close up Mid shot Long shot Over the shoulder Extreme close up
Colour use and editing Colour use will be relatively dark due to the nature of how most music venues look. Editing will make visual shots more appealing and will encourage the dark style.
Codes and Conventions Natural lighting and sound. Interviews with ‘experts. ’ Short but sweet text to present information. Relevant music. Set-ups e. g. practice rooms.
Visual Coding Instruments. Clothing. Dark atmosphere.
Narrative My Documentary will be an expository style. I will be attempting to convince my audience that Sheffield is the place to be for music. There will be mainly over the video narrative.
Where can you see it? Documentary’s are one of the harder genres to get across to a wide audience. So where can I show off my production post release?
