Thematic Learning - Kindergarten • Students are introduced to subjects about the world around them through thematic learning, stories, literature, activities, songs, and games to help them meet the learning goals • Themes change throughout the year to ensure the child is having fun and learning. • Sunshine: 3 or 4 years old • Starlight: 4 or 5 years old • Discoverers: 5 or 6 years old

Primary: Tailored Curriculum • Classes are divided into 4 core subjects: Math, WOW, Language,

Primary: Tailored Curriculum • Classes are divided into 4 core subjects: Math, WOW, Language, and Extra English and are leveled according to student’s skills. • By leveling students according to abilities, they can excel in certain areas and have more help in areas that are weak. ▫ This allows a student who tests at one level for math to be in a different level for English language

Primary - World of Wonders (WOW) • This is your child’s homeroom class •

Primary - World of Wonders (WOW) • This is your child’s homeroom class • Students learn all about history, geography, cultures, science, and reading comprehension strategies through read alouds!.

Middle School • The English Program is 6 th-8 th grade and open to

Middle School • The English Program is 6 th-8 th grade and open to students who have earned a certificate of completion for Primary school and meet the SIS requirements. • SIS middle school is a traditional schooling system where students are placed in the different subjects by grades (6 th, 7 th, 8 th) except for math which is leveled. • This is very different from SIS primary school.

Lao Curriculum • Lao curriculum is available from Kindergarten to M 2 and will begin August 21. • Pickup for all Ss until August 21 is 3: 00 pm • Once Lao curriculum begins on August 21: ▫ normal pickup time for K & P will be 4: 40 pm ▫ For MS, the pickup time will be 5: 30 pm

Attendance • • Kindergarten: 8: 15 am Primary: 7: 45 am Middle School: 8: 00 am SIS wants your child to learn so please prioritize being on time! • Tardy/Absent ▫ Contact parents if child isn’t in class at 8: 10 am ▫ Tardy – child must sign into the office BEFORE going to the classroom and receive a pink slip. ▫ 3 tardies = 1 absence ▫ If 15 absences are accrued, this can be reason for the child to repeat the course.

Homework - Primary • Want parent involvement with math/language HW • Ps must sign child’s homework (usually in the workbooks) or child will have a punishment at school • Teachers will keep record • Request homework 1 week before you need it: ▫ If leaving for a trip, please request 1 week. ▫ If child is sick and needs to rest at home ▫ 1 -2 days is NOT enough time.
