Parent School Partnership Form • We, at Sharon International, want parents involved in the learning & training process because we feel that children are more likely to succeed. • Kinder = pink; Primary = yellow, Middle = green • Please make sure to sign this TODAY if you are willing to work together with the school this year!

Thematic Learning - Kindergarten • Students are introduced to subjects about the world around them through thematic learning, stories, literature, activities, songs, and games to help them meet the learning goals • Themes change throughout the year to ensure the child is having fun and learning. • Sunshine: 3 or 4 years old • Starlight: 4 or 5 years old • Discoverers: 5 or 6 years old

Primary: Tailored Curriculum • Classes are divided into 4 core subjects: Math, WOW, Language, and Extra English and are leveled according to student’s skills. • By leveling students according to abilities, they can excel in certain areas and have more help in areas that are weak. ▫ This allows a student who tests at one level for math to be in a different level for English language

Primary - World of Wonders (WOW) • This is your child’s homeroom class • Students learn all about history, geography, cultures, science, and reading comprehension strategies through read alouds!.

Middle School • The English Program is 6 th-8 th grade and open to students who have earned a certificate of completion for Primary school and meet the SIS requirements. • SIS middle school is a traditional schooling system where students are placed in the different subjects by grades (6 th, 7 th, 8 th) except for math which is leveled. • This is very different from SIS primary school.

Lao Curriculum • Lao curriculum is available from Kindergarten to M 2 and will begin August 21. • Pickup for all Ss until August 21 is 3: 00 pm • Once Lao curriculum begins on August 21: ▫ normal pickup time for K & P will be 4: 40 pm ▫ For MS, the pickup time will be 5: 30 pm

Attendance • • Kindergarten: 8: 15 am Primary: 7: 45 am Middle School: 8: 00 am SIS wants your child to learn so please prioritize being on time! • Tardy/Absent ▫ Contact parents if child isn’t in class at 8: 10 am ▫ Tardy – child must sign into the office BEFORE going to the classroom and receive a pink slip. ▫ 3 tardies = 1 absence ▫ If 15 absences are accrued, this can be reason for the child to repeat the course.

School Uniforms • Middle School ▫ Sports Uniform: Monday-Wednesday, Friday ▫ Formal Uniform: Monday (can have sports uniform underneath formal uniform) & Thursday • Primary & Kindergarten School ▫ Sports Uniform: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday ▫ Formal Uniform: Monday & Wednesday

Sports Shoes • All Students (Kinder, Primary, MS) are encouraged to wear sneakers/tennis shoes every day • Students are required to wear them on the designated sports/PE days ▫ Schedule will be sent home soon • Can keep in locker all the time

Drop-Off • • • Front is quite congested. Not passing PIS is a good suggestion. Use side entrance to drop children off No parking on side street If want to walk child in, please part along the back side of this building and come in.

Sunshine Student Orientation • Play Date for Sunshine parents to join their children, Aug 10 -18 • From 8 am-10 am ▫ Please participate for the 2 hours and then allow your children to continue to stay and learn with T. Novee.

Pickup • Kindergarten ▫ Ss not enrolled in Lao curriculum – pickup at 2: 45 -3: 15 pm ▫ Aug 21: Ss enrolled in Lao curriculum pickup 4: 40 pm ▫ Students not picked up by 3: 15 pm, will join Lao class and will be charged fees

Pick Up • Please be on time! • 1 week grace period to get new schedules worked out • If your child is still at school after pick up time, then he/she will be left with the guard. • If students are constantly pickup up late then the school will request a meeting with parents. There will be 50, 000 kip late fee / time as well! • We care about our staff and family time!

Homework - Primary • Want parent involvement with math/language HW • Ps must sign child’s homework (usually in the workbooks) or child will have a punishment at school • Teachers will keep record • Request homework 1 week before you need it: ▫ If leaving for a trip, please request 1 week. ▫ If child is sick and needs to rest at home ▫ 1 -2 days is NOT enough time.

Health & Safety • • • Personal Snacks Prescription medicine ONLY brought to office Parasite treatment from the schol School-wide lice checks Fever-free for 24 hours

Health & Safety • Parasite Medicine – receive after orientation • Treatment Plan ▫ ▫ ▫ Friday evening every person at home takes pill Sleep Clean bathrooms, wash clothes and bedding Come to school worm free Repeat in 7 -14 days if needed

Why take the medicine? • Treatment every 6 months isn’t harmful • Left untreated, intestinal parasites may lead to ▫ ▫ ▫ Stomach aches, loss of appetite, nausea Discomfort from itching Headache, dizziness, feeling tired Fever Cough Frequent illness

Personal Water Bottle • Water bottle for each child from home – wide mouth • SIS will not provide cups or allow sharing. • Many diseases can be contracted through sharing of cups!
