Overview Update the NNE Patients Council regarding • MIG • e. DSM • Sharing Medical Records
Detail • MIG is now live • Currently 20% of patient records are available to be shared • Success of MIG dependent on patient records being available to view if required • EMIS - records are automatically available to share • TPP is different you have to set share via e. DSM • When someone needs to view record the patient is always asked for permission – they can say NO
• Legal duty to make records available to share • Must adhere to Data Protection Act • Must adhere to all 7 Caldicott principles • 1 -6 keeping information safe • 7 duty to share information • RIG Guidance Notice to all healthcare organisations for records to be made available to share • Agreed to set implied consent to all records • Does not over-ride any dissents already set
• The MIG project recognise the need for e. DSM shares - dedicated sub project • Co-ordinated approach across the county • Patient and public feedback taken into account • No countywide media campaign planned • CCG can do own media – facebook and twitter • Joint communication and support materials will be issued to practices shortly
