Situation of girls and women with disabilities in Italy • Last 2019 the national network I belong published a oneyear survey that investigates in depth theme of violence against women with disabilities • The name of this survey is VERA acronyms of Violence, Emergence, Recognition and Awareness • 519 were compiled questionnaires from as many women with disabilities, ranging from 16 to 81 years old.
VERA data • 33% of the total declared they have suffered violence • 54% psychological violence suffered; • 37% sexual harassment also through the web; • 24% physical violence • 37% sexual violence • 7% economic violence
VERA data • In 80% the perpetrator is a person known to the victim. • 82% women with cognitive/intellective impairment • 85% pshyco-social disability. • 74% multiple disabilities • 64% of cases with only one kind of limitation

Weaknesses on disability reported to GREVIO • Lack of awareness of the problem by the Institutions and the general public. • Available statistics in the field of violence and abuse report no data on girls and women with disabilities. • Disabled victims in the fight against violence against women do not exist.
