Shakespeare: Macbeth Year 9 | English Homework Tasks | Term: Autumn 1 | Topic: Shakespeare – Macbeth Instructions: Each week you will complete one piece of homework. This will be either one of the activities below, or revision from your Knowledge Organiser for a test in class. Your teacher will let you know what homework activity you’re doing and when this should be handed in. Homework activity: Skills being practiced: Reading Skills: Show your understanding of what you have read by using quotations and analysing the effect of these on the audience or reader. Produce a glossary for the following: • ambition, • supernatural, • guilt, • thane, • soliloquy, • manipulative, • iambic pentameter • superstition. For each term, write a definition and explain how it relates to the play. Writing Skills: Show off your range of vocabulary, your understanding of grammar and your ability to write creatively. Creative Challenge: You can present this piece of work in any way that you choose: make sure that Imagine you are a servant who has secretly witnessed the murder of King Duncan. Write an eyewitness account, using first person narrative. Don’t forget to include: • Who you saw; • Where you were; • What happened; • When this occurred; • Why you think this happened. Create a three page leaflet using each side to show the changes in either Macbeth or Lady Macbeth’s character. Think about: • before the murder of Duncan, • after the murder of Duncan, • their last scene. Use quotations and explain what the audience think of them at each stage.
