CURRENT SWITCHGEAR • Pad‐mounted switchgear provide distribution points in an underground system for backbone feeder circuit ties, and radial or loop feed circuit configurations. Pad‐mounted switchgear units are dead‐front, sulfur hexafluoride (SF 6) gas insulated, completel enclosed assemblies, and are available in 15 KV and 38 KV rated manual or automatic (ATC) operational configurations. All switches on a pad‐mounted switchgear are located on the front side opening only and all 600 ampere rated, with any combination of switches available from 3 up to 6 total WAY sets of switches in 1 unit.
STD SWITCHGEAR • Switchgear are identified by having all 600 ampere deadbreak bushings for both the GP line‐side and GR tap‐side WAY’s of the unit. For the GP line‐side, one 600 ampere rated 3‐pole non‐fused WAY isidentified on the left side of the unit with bushings mounted offset. One operating handle will operate the 3‐pole internally ganged switch for the GP line‐side, non‐fused. WAY • The remaining electronic‐fused WAY’s with bushings mounted horizontal can be utilized either as a GP line‐side WAY, GR three‐phase or GR single‐phase tap‐side WAY. GP applications require the electronic fuse to be deactivated. applications require 600 ampere bushing extenders and 600 to 200 ampere loadbreak elbow tap plugs to be installed. Single‐phase GR applications require the removal of the operating handle linkage. For the tap‐side WAY’sin, there are individual operating switch handles for each phase of the WAY, and the addition or removal of operating handle linkage allows for three‐phase or single‐phase configurations (Minimizes inventory). 4
