Male Reproductive System: External Structures Penis- used for reproduction/ sex & urination Testes- located in scrotum, produce sperm, testosterone Epididymis-stores sperm until mature

Internal Structures • Prostate- located at base of bladder, produces most of the seminal fluid which is milky white & neutralizes the environment of the urethra and vagina • Seminal Vesicles- pair of glands that secrete clear fluid which helps sperms locomotion & nutrition

• Cowper’s Gland- pea size glands that produce a clear fluid that neutralizes the urethra before ejaculation • Vas Deferens- connects to all of the above & carries sperm into the urethra

Female Reproductive System: External Structures • Mons Veneris- fatty tissue that forms a cushion to protect the pubic bone • Labia Majora- two folds of skin that contain oil sacs & sweat glands • Labia Minora- located in majora, has sensitive nerve endings • Clitoris- round elongated organ which has many nerve endings

Internal Structures • • • Ovaries- produces and stores egg cells for reproduction , estrogen, progesterone Fallopian tube- connects the ovaries with the uterus, site for fertilization Uterus- also known as the womb, it is a muscular organ where a fetus develops, site of implantation , expands many times it’s original size

• Cervix- the lower portion of the uterus that leads to the vagina • Vagina- also a outside structure, also known as the birth canal, serves as a passageway for the baby during childbirth and receives the penis during intercourse • What is the hymen?
