Regional Training Workshops § 2 RTW have been conducted to date § Harare RTW focusing on Thematic expert § Windhoek RTW focusing on the UTE § Windhoek training evaluation identified the need for hands on training § The 3 rd, Gaborone RTW focuses on TE(12) & UTE (23) for role of To. SADC ODE § The grant proposal foresaw 1 rounds of ODE § The ODE was to be based on Moodle platform which ran on the MESA platform, using the SD material. § This activity has lacked behind § There is need to review this activity and appraise ourselves of its continued utility and practicality. 20
On the job training • Previous efforts on job training focused on 2 parallel approaches; on the job training (MESA staff), and Adhoc Training including NFP on the job training. – Numerous continental training sessions also undertaken. – The courses are expected to have upgraded the NFP skill base especially the novices. – A key question is how to conduct this activity in the current training approach. 21
Upcoming Activities • • Curriculum Development Validation Feedback Workshop – March 2017 (#3 days) Final Workshop – June 2017 22
Curriculum Development • The grant proposal foresees the MESA SADC Thema contributing to the curriculum development in SADC Universities. • It is proposed that the co-beneficiary partner universities could play consultant to other universities and promote EO curriculum development. • What other options are available for this activity. 23
Validation • The validation proposal was to undertake validation activities in the region covering all the services with up to 4500 per service • Since CB is important the NFP for the service being validated was necessarily part of the team. • 2 validation exercises have been undertaken to date albeit with challenges. – Financing and bookkeeping – Reports – How can this process be improved, to what extent can the flood validation be elevated given the newness of the service 24
Feedback Workshop • Following the current training there will be a round of NTW • First time effort by the Unis • Need to have a reporting session for this process to take stock and possibly prepare for GMES Africa • Proposed to be around March 2017 25
Final Workshop • This will be the MESA project closing workshop • Will cover all key stakeholders more or less along the lines of the inception workshop • Expected to be held in June 2017 • It is critical to have MESA outputs for exhibition at this time. 26
