Aurelian Walls • Built during the 3 rd Century C. E. • 11 ft thick, 26 feet high, 12 miles in Perimeter inclosing 5. 3 square miles of city. • A tower was built every 100 roman feet (97 ft).

Fun Facts • The Aurelian Walls only had a garrison of 25, 000 men • Only meant to repel small scale raids • Until 1870 the walls were Rome’s main defense • Used to define the border of the City State of Rome.
