SERRA Prayer for VOCATIONS O God, who wills not the death of a sinner, but rather that he be converted and live, Grant we beseech You, through the intercession of the Blessed Mary, ever virgin, Saint Joseph, her spouse, Saint Junipero Serra, and all the saints, An increase of laborers for your Church, fellow laborers with Christ to spend and consume themselves for souls, through the same Jesus Christ, Your son, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.

How do we obtain the virtue of humility? We ask God for it! As

How do we obtain the virtue of humility? We ask God for it! As the frequent prayer of St. Augustine… “Noscam Te, noscam me – May I know Thee; may I know myself. ” To have true knowledge of God’s greatness and of our nothingness! We are “work in progress” that every step toward the-better-version-of-ourselves is a step toward God!

I will immerse myself in a complex world by… o keeping my eyes open to the joy, sufferings, and every day struggles that unfold around me and o reminding myself that I am no better than anyone else as I strive to lead with humility

Resilient • From early childhood he experienced prolonged pain and suffering, yet did not lose faith, hope or charity to answer God’s calling • He was always ill and so small of stature and not able to reach the lectern nor able to help fellow novices in needed chores • He walked thousand miles with his infected left leg and yet established 9 missions along the California coastline

To be comfortable with reality of being uncomfortable o Being who I am and ought to be (Noscam me!) o Putting a skin on the cross that God has chosen 2. I will reflect on the day and to be grateful for all that I have o to check my compass – convictions, attitudes, and habits are Christ centered o to be humble because as Jesus, our patron St. Junipero Serra was humble o “Noscam Te! Apostolic missionary • At the height of earthly honor he abandoned all (family, security and comfort) to become a missionary for the conversion of souls all for greater glory of God • Enjoyed reading the lives of saints who labored for the conversion of souls (St. Francis Solano) and had strong devotion to Mother Mary and Saint Joseph • God is the source of and reason for everything he’s done, so trusted in God and His holy purpose • He led with a great spirit of urgency, groomed and trusted his fellow priests to carry on the mission work
