Prelude “Agincourt Hymn” ~Dunstable Lighting of the candles
SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 12: 13 -21
Someone in the crowd said to him, ‘Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me. ’ But he said to him, ‘Friend, who set me to be a judge or arbitrator over you? ’ And he said to them, ‘Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed;
for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions. ’ Then he told them a parable: ‘The land of a rich man produced abundantly. And he thought to himself, “What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops? ” Then he said, “I will do this:
I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry. ” But God said to him, “You fool! This very night life is being demanded of you.
And the things you have prepared, whose will they be? ” So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich towards God. ’

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Gracious God, in our wanderings and selfish desires we have skipped out on fellowship with our families, our friends, and our neighbors;
we have ignored our communion with you. Too often we have chosen the pleasures of the world and personal desires over doing the right thing for others. Forgiving God, we know that even in our sin and selfishness,
you do not give up on us. Free us from our bad choices and behavior, Holy One, so that by focusing on the right way to live, we may truly reveal the presence of Christ in our lives. Amen.
Silence is observed for individual reflection and prayer.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: In faith we call out to a loving and forgiving God, seeking to put aside our old life and put on Christ. God surely answers our prayers. In the name of Christ Jesus, our sins are forgiven.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON P: Thanks be to God for mercy and grace and love. Amen.
Time with Young Christians RALLY DAY!!!
PROCLAIMING THE WORD SCRIPTURE READING: Colossians 3: 1 -11
So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry). On account of these the wrath of God is coming on those who are disobedient.
These are the ways you also once followed, when you were living that life. But now you must get rid of all such things – anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive language from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have stripped off the old self with its practices and
have clothed yourselves with the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of its creator. In that renewal there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all!
L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!

Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows
L: Hear these words from Scripture: Just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.
P: For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into the one body, Jesus the Christ – Jews or Greeks, slaves or free – and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
Profession of Faith
L: Sisters and Brothers in Christ, our baptism is the sign and seal of our cleansing from sin, and of our being powerfully connected to and into Jesus the Christ. Through the birth, life, death, resurrection and ascension of Christ,
the power of sin on you and on the world was broken; and God’s kingdom entered our world. Through our baptism we were made part of God’s kingdom, and freed from the bondage, the powerful hold of sin.
Let us celebrate that freedom and redemption through the renewal of the promises made at our baptism. I ask you each, therefore, to renew your vows from your baptism and renew your commitment to
becoming more and more Christlike each day. I ask you once again to reject sin – because it is so destructive to so many, including yourself;
I ask you to profess your faith in Christ Jesus and your belief in his vision of God’s kingdom, which is here and now; And I ask you to confess the faith of the church, the faith in which we were baptized –
the belief that in Christ we are made whole, made clean, and empowered to see and build God’s vision for the world.
Questions
L: Trusting in the gracious mercy of God, do you turn away from the ways of sin and reject evil and its power in your life and in the world? P: I do reject them.
L: Who do you place as the ruler of your heart and life? P: I place Jesus Christ as the ruler of my heart and life.
L: Will you be Christ’s faithful disciple, taking the necessary steps and actions to grow more like him; and then living that out by showing his love to all you encounter? P: With God’s transforming help, I will.
L: As Christ’s body, let us confess our faith together: ALL: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Thanksgiving for Baptism
L: My family in Christ, remember your baptism and be thankful for Christ’s presence in your life. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. P: Amen.
Anointing
L: If anyone would like to come forward and be anointed with oil, you may do so at this time. The following is the statement and your response:
L: Remember your baptism and be thankful, and know that the Holy Spirit is at work within you. P: Thanks be to God.
