How is this different than the spring? • Live instruction on a daily basis • Synchronous and asynchronous work • Try to maintain school hours - 9: 153: 40 • One platform as main focus: Seesaw and Zoom • Consistent schedule across the grade level; consistent lunch schedule across the school • Goal to help reduce amount of parent support needed • Curbside monthly materials distribution 7
Help create a “school” environment • Create an environment that is not disruptive to others • Create an environment that allows for your family privacy too • Make sure child is dressed appropriately • Be aware of background noises and conversations • Use a plain background behind student (virtual background) • Responsible Use Agreement 8
• Students log in at 9: 15 daily for regular attendance • If you cannot participate in live instruction, can still participate outside regularly scheduled school hours and be counted as present. • Robo call messages still go out – reminder to let us know if you are absent or working asynchronously • For now send an email, phone call, etc. , to let teacher know if student is working at a different time, can change attendance • Pre-arranged asynchronous attendance if going out of town for longer period of time Attendance Primary goal is that your student attend with his/her class and benefit from peer to peer and student-to-teacher interaction. 9

What if my teacher is absent? • Teachers get sick too • Teacher take attendance in the morning • Pro-active communication by email • Students will work on asynchronous work, prepared videos and lessons, materials, independent work, etc. , still get credit • 3 or more days - substitute 11

How can Family Liaisons help our families? (Each school has a Family Partnership Liaison assigned to help families. Family Partnership Liaisons can also serve as cultural brokers to families who are unfamiliar with the US school system and have questions on US public school systems. Liaisons can help families connect with teachers and schools via interpreters. CURRENT INVESTMENTS How does the Foundation fuel success for students? • Online resources giving students more opportunities to expand their learning from home. • Elementary: Reading A-Z, giving students digital library options and leveled reading material. • Middle School: Newsela, giving students the opportunity to read about a given topic at their reading level for better engagement and understanding. • High School: No. Red. Ink, giving students tools and activities to support writing. By investing in a variety of areas that support them. • Basic needs such as food support and school supplies so they can concentrate and have the tools they need to participate in school from home. Our current focus is on funding what students need most during remote learning. • Professional Development and Grants for teachers giving them the support they need for remote teaching and opportunities to receive funding for materials they need to help make learning come alive for students. • Behavioral Health Education – providing resources and opportunities for social emotional learning that is vital, particularly during this time.
