Reverend Mark Collins, George Washington re-enactor, visited SC for a week. Sixty people staged a “Signing of the Constitution” production at an Art Center. A town crier spread the news through the streets of town. State Constitution Week Luncheons, Teas, and Banquets were held. Lunches and Brunches were given for teachers. There was a high school photoop with a 6 ft. reproduction of the Constitution. Students from a Girls’ School carried amendment placards in a parade. Ceremonies were held at Signer’s monuments or at their grave sites. Numerous chapters had special “Bells Across America” ceremonies. Alabama daughters rode around town with “Constitution Week” on car doors. DAR Leadership Training – August 2015
College students read the Constitution in quads & rang Tower Bells. The “Big Tweet” with 32 hours of close circuit TV took place at a college. A Naturalization Ceremony was held on the USS Battleship North Carolina. A “Man in the Street” photo-op with a James Madison cut-out was popular. Taking part in “Colonial Days” was another favorite event. One chapter sponsored a Constitution Quiz bowl at a radio station. Seeing who could say the Preamble the fastest was a fun event, too. Several chapters had Constitution Week picnics in the park. DAR Leadership Training – August 2015
