College Admission Tests n n SAT- www. collegeboard. org upcoming tests: 10/1, 11/5, 12/3 ACT- www. act. org upcoming tests: 9/10*, 10/22, 12/10 *deadline passed

TSI Assessment College placement test (Texas) n n n Placement exam for college courses. Prep information online. May be exempt from taking the TSI based on SAT or ACT scores. Students must consult with each college to verify the criteria for being exempt.

SAT/ACT/TSI scores are not on your high school transcript. You will need to request that the testing agency send your official scores to the colleges.

College Days n n 2 for senior year. During visit, get a letter from the college acknowledging your visit college letterhead n dates of visit n your name n n Turn letter in to your house office when you return to KHS

College Application Steps n n n 1. Complete online applications 2. Order transcript/request forms or recommendations (if required) 3. Send

Step 1: Complete Online Applications n n § Texas Common Application: www. applytexas. org National Common Application: https: //www. commonapp. org Visit other websites as needed *We recommend that you waive your rights to confidentiality on the application.

Step 2: Order Transcript only: n See the registrars in room 1025 or 1026 (front office) $2. 00 each if mailed n Have the address of the admissions office(s) n Please allow two weeks for transcripts to be sent (paper and electronic) n

Step 2: Order Transcript (cont. ) Transcript and Counselor Forms/Recommendations: (including the Common Application online and Send EDU) n n Make an appointment to see your counselor during lunch Bring the following to your appointment: n n Necessary form(s) if applicable Senior information sheet

Step 3: Send Once completed, your Counselor submits electronically or returns the forms to Mrs. Nelson. n Mrs. Nelson mails forms & transcripts. n

Counselor Deadlines n n Two weeks are required for counselors to complete our portion. The timeline begins on the day of the appointment and/or when all necessary materials are submitted to the counselor. * Your failure to pay attention to deadlines does not decrease our timeline for completing our portion of the application or recommendation.

Teacher Recommendations n If needed – arrange with teachers. n Teachers need: n n 2 weeks addressed envelope with stamp if mailed your info sheet a THANK YOU note!

Important Dates n n Sept. 9: 3 -week level change forms due Sept. 30: 6 -week level change forms due TBA : College Night: Humble Civic Center. Oct. 21: LAST DAY to drop a 1 st semester class not needed for graduation – no extra release & only 1 aide. n n Nov. 4: Pass/Fail forms due. Dec. 9: n Schedule changes due for 2 nd semester. n Correspondence Courses/CBEs complete with final grade to KHS.
