Scheduling Materials The Program of Studies (POS) is available online at www. svsd. net (select Academics, then Program of Studies, then 9 -12 Course Listing). Courses can be viewed by plan, list, or catalog. The POS is also available on your gradebook page in the portal. Course registration is available through your Seneca Valley portal at www. svsd. net (in Gradebook, access course registration at bottom right corner of page). Credits Every class you take at Seneca Valley has a specific credit value. Semester course Full year course with lab . 5 credit 1. 0 credit 1. 4 credit To earn credit, you must pass the class with a 60% “D” or higher (final average).

th 10 Grade English • English 10 • Honors English 10 (requires a 90% or better in English 9 or an 80% in Honors English 9, teacher recommendation and successful completion of summer assignments) Teacher recommendations for all core subjects will be included in the online registration form.
th 9 Grade Social Studies • U. S. History 1/U. S. History 2 • Honors U. S. History 1/Honors U. S. History 2 The prerequisites for Honors History are a 90% in 8 th grade Social Studies and recommendations from current Social Studies and English teachers.
th 10 Grade Social Studies • World History 1/World History 2 • Honors World History 1/Honors World History 2 • Advanced Placement World History The prerequisites for Honors World History are a 90% in U. S. History 1 and 2; prerequisites for A. P. are an 80% in Honors U. S. History or a 95% in U. S. History, and completion of summer work. Both Honors and A. P. options also require current English and History teacher recommendations.

World Language World language is often needed for college admission. Most colleges require 2 -3 years of the same language on the high school transcript. Colleges often consider the 8 th grade world language toward their entrance requirements. Language taken in grade 8 will be reflected on an SV transcript. Honors level courses in World Language are available. Please consult your current teacher and the Program of Studies for prerequisites.

SV Academy of Choice • Students may enroll in cyber courses that provide credit towards graduation and are calculated into GPA. • Students may be enrolled : Full-time onsite Full-time at home Supplement to traditional classes Courses are available as : Cyber Blended Note: Some cyber courses require completion of a previous cyber course. Read prerequisites carefully.

Registration Window Students will be entering their course selections into the computer from Tuesday, February 4 through Friday, February 14, 2020. Instructional video for course request portal completion was shown to students on Tuesday, February 4. Video link is found on IHS homepage. IHS Counselors available during RGMS lunches on Wednesday, February 12 and Thursday, February 13. IHS Counselors available during IHS lunches daily in the IHS Guidance Office.
Schedule Changes • Course request changes can be made through the end of this school year (June 5, 2020). • Teachers may make recommendation changes based on student performance during the second semester of this school year. • A drop/add period at the beginning of the next school year is allotted.
