Denotation and Connotation Denotation Elements that are unarguable, that we all agree to be true • Not going fever than the obvious Connotation Elements that are arguable, that are personal to the view • Analysing further, giving personal opinions of the type of media This is Denotation ; o He wearing a hat o He smoking a cigar o There is text This is connotation; o He a bad role model o The album might be good or bad Both Adele's album ‘ 25’ and ‘encore’ by Eminem uses dramatised techniques to draw audiences in there albums. Adele used dramatic big eyes and a closed mouth, slightly open (donation) to give a dramatic view, which can suggest to her audience that her music might be emotional (Connotation), this is also suggested by the black and white photo. It has a connotation of a modern music (because of the text) and that the album is also modern. The font suggests more to look at Adele and it her album and that its simple but powerful. The close up on her face show the personal meaning of her music which audience already know, as this is what she is know for. Encore can give the denotation that he is wearing a suit (blow and red) and the old school theatre stage which he is standing in front of people and by an opening curtain however audience can give a connotation from the artist that the music could be relatable to life problems which he has faced or his diss tracks. The album can relate to he is performing for his audience , standing on a stage. As he stands in a suit, this could suggest that he could be mocking the government and by him standing in front of a bored old audience which represent that younger people will listen to the album and that the older generation don’t care for his type of music
