Semester 1 Unit 1 Grade 8 Design – CAD/Graphics The project What key skills will I learn? Design Brief This project will be focusing on your; 1. Research skills 2. Designing/technique skills 3. Software skills Homework list As a designer, your task is to research, analyse the portable music market. Based upon trend, you must design in 3 D by hand complete your final design in CAD. This project is a presentation This list is very important. You will get on average one homework per week. 1. Complete a one point and two point perspective of a basic object at home. Attempt rendering. Must be presented on plain A 4 bordered paper 1. Collect sources on previous portable music gadgets 2. Complete an historical timeline ( in your own words). Each era MUST be accompanied with a clear colourful image 3. Complete your designs in 2 point perspective and include ‘crating’ and produce a working drawing for the final chosen design. 1. Complete your final design on Google sketch up 1. Complete a reflective evaluation with screenshots of your practical work What is a ‘rubric’? …. what will I be assessed on? I stated the problem and I have collected information from one source. I have listed some specifications. 1 -2 I have described the problem. I have selected analysed my information from my cited sources. I have described a test to help me evaluate my product against my specifications. 3 -4 R I have explained the problem. I have critically investigated my problem by evaluating my information from a wide range of cited sources. My tests are written in detail and they are appropriate to evaluate against my detailed specifications. 5 -6 U plan Description have I completed the following? I didn’t reach a standard set by the criteria below. B Grade what did I achieve? 0 I produced a plan that contained a few details and resources that I will need. 1 -2 I Produced a plan that included most of the details, time, logical steps and basic diagrams. 3 -4 I produced a plan that included an appropriate list of resources, included time and logical steps, PLUS I evaluated my plan, with explanations and justifications at each step. 5 -6 R I C
