Our Vision Semantically • Military spends a huge. Power. Point amount of Grounded Infrastructure time creating briefings Briefing • DAML Marked Data The Killer Ap – gathering, collating, formatting data – translating into powerpoint slides Dynamic Data for different commanders – customizing integrated intoa Briefing • Need for Personalized Briefing Creation Agent – Power. Point Infrastructure for Knows about military domain • – Requesting data (communicative) • – Accepting data Knows how to access military sources DAML (capable) it into model propagating Gathers information off-line for. Marked user • – Rendering data - coupling (autonomous) Briefings briefing data to model Briefing Creation Agent – Tailorable to users needs and changing – e. g. shape color determined by resources (adaptive) attribute value • Need for a search tool for • Exporting Briefing in DAML information embedded in briefings – Intel. Link minimally keyword searchable • Importing DAML into Briefing • Graphically Defining/Editing Ontology • DIFFing changes between versions DAML Marked Briefings Better Access to Materials Intel Link Search Tool

What’s Hot • Semantic Markup in COTS Document Authoring Tools – Markup as By. Product of graphic content creation • Visually Annotated Ontology – Incorporation of external content – Automatically updated briefings • Semantically Indexed Images – Image Indexing Web Crawler • HTML Images • Briefing Images – Legacy Image Markup – Semantically Described Image Search DEMO

Challenges • Internal – Automated Rendering of Imported Content • Layout Annotations in Visually Annotated Ontology – Supporting Objects in Multiple (non-intersecting) Classes • Not supported by COM generators (i. e. standard OO languages) • External – Coupling with external DAML query service – Identifying Producer Value-Added Markups in MS Word • Follow Briefing Associate “Markup-As-Byproduct” paradigm • Prototype – Semantic Auto. Complete – Semantic Reference Disambiguation – Paste object values into text • Follow On – Semantic Diagrams to establish context (for markup and consumer)
