Semantic Squirrels Hugh Glaser University of Southampton http: //semantic-squirrel. org They’re the Nuts! Why? The most exciting thing about the Web is the data. The most frustrating thing about the Web is the lack of data, especially your historical personal data. When the Semantic Web succeeds, will you be frustrated and regret not having the data you are discarding now? It need not be so. Squirrel your data away. How? Go for incidental acquisition - all those things your gadgets and computer are doing. Share expertise on how to extract the nuts. Don’t get stuck in some archaic ontology or representation. Let the nuts propagate when the Semantic Spring comes - process the data when you know what to do with it. Re-process it if you want something different. Squirrels Services & Applications Propagators Camera GPS Mobile Your computer Intelligent PDA Email Web bookmarks and history Music listened to Addresses Diary Changed files Seismic activity Network (IP after NAT MAC address of access point) TV watched What it hears What it sees Sources ? Nuts Semantic Stores The Future Get Involved The Wiki at semantic-squirrel. org is there for you to contribute your expertise. We need Squirrels and Propagators. We need management tools for Squirrels and Propagators. You can start to experiment with Services and Applications. We need everything to be multiplatform.
