Understanding Global Options During this lesson we’ll review Solana’s Global Options and how they affect your operations.
Solana Global Options Browse to Admin>Definitions/Setup/Global. We’ll review: • System Options • Serving Periods • Site Types • Management Levels
System Options Click on System Options. You’ll see options for: • • • System (Logins) POS Free and Reduced Inventory Menu Let’s take a look at each.
System Options Note the Password Requirements for logging into your District website. In System, you are able to set the Lockout Duration. The other fields are fixed and for information only.
System Options In POS, you’ll configure: • PINS- Indicate whether they’re to be unique. If checked, Solana will NOT allow duplicates. • Block Ala Carte Charging- Check to block ALL Ala Carte charging. • Allow Cash A la Carte Purchase Over Limit- Check to allow CASH purchases when over the patrons has exceeded their spending limit. • Cash Drawer Compulsion- Check if using electronic Cash Drawers to allow them to pop open.
System Options In Free And Reduced, you’ll configure: • Auto Generate Application Numbers (rather than entering by hand). • Starting Application Number- input the value just after Rollover. • Universal Attendance Factor, for use on Edit Check and other reports. Check here to multiply Meals by the Universal Attendance Factor on reports. Choose whether to use Calendar or Operational Days to set the Temporary Grace period expiration. Select your method of approval for CEP. Browse to Admin>Community>CEP Claiming Percentages to input.
System Options In Inventory, you’ll choose whether to: • Require Management Approval…(based on User Group rights for Ordering). • Consolidate School Orders…(School orders are consolidated at the District level, allowing ordering by Central Office staff. )
System Options Menus displays predefined Grade Groups and includes an option to define Sodium Targets (used in calculating Recipes and 5 -day Cycles). Sodium Standards are defined by the USDA as shown.
System Options To add Adjustment Reasons, click Student Account Adjustment Reasons under Addition Options. Click + to add a reason. Then Save.
Serving Periods Click on Serving Periods allow you to group Sales for Reporting. Click + to add Serving Periods as needed. These will display data for each on reports. Choose Period Type, Abbreviation (displayed on certain reports) and Menu Analysis Type. Be sure to assign to the appropriate sites.
Site Types Click on Site Types. Schools are grouped by Site Type for POS Menu assignments. Click + to add Site Types as needed. You will assign to each School in Admin>Schools, School Details tab.
Management Levels Click on Management Levels are used to designate School hierarchies, mostly for Satellite Sites. If you think you need another Type, please call Customer Support for consultation.
