Seek Ye First The Kingdom of God

Luke 17: 20 -21 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you. ”

Acts 1: 3 To whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

1. What the Kingdom of God is not a. It is not a specific location Luke 17: 20 -21 “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’

b. It is not just the church or a particular denomination. c. It is not just about going to Heaven in the future.

2. What is the Kingdom of God? “The Kingdom of God is essentially God’s will, where God rules and reigns. It exists when and where there is willing acceptance and submission to His dominion and control. ”

1. To allow God to rule and reign in every aspect of your life. 2. To give Him full control over your life. 3. It is a full-hearted desire for His will to be carried out in your life. 4. Unreserved obedience to the Word of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. 5. It means to turn from “Self-Rule” to “God-Rule”.

Matthew 6: 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

1. The Self-Rule life is a life of serving Money

Matthew 6: 24 -34 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

2. The Self-Rule life is a life filled with Worries

3. The “God- Rule Life” seeks first the Kingdom “Seeks first the Kingdom of God and it’s righteousness”

So what does it mean to give God the rule and reign over your Finances?

A. Acknowledge the Lordship of God over your Finances

Acts 4: 32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

B. Do not eat the forbidden fruit !

Genesis 2: 16 -17 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. ”

C. Allow God to guide you in using your Finances

Acts 4: 34 -35 34 Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.
